It’s summertime in the bountiful Skagit Valley and that means two things:
1) There are loads of delicious farm fresh dairy, meat, fruit and produce available at local farmers markets’ every week; and 2) American Farmland Trust’s America’s Favorite Farmers Markets™ contest kicked into gear today Friday June 22nd at 9am PDT/12 pm EDT and Skagit Valley’s local markets need your votes to win!
The process is simple. To vote for your favorite market, all you have to do is click below:
Type in Anacortes, Mount Vernon or Sedro Woolley Farmers Market and “Caste Your Vote”! Click on the market link and share why it’s your favorite market.
That’s it. That’s all it takes to bring a Skagit Valley local market one step closer to being America’s favorite farmers market!
Want to support all the markets in Skagit Valley or others? Search by WA state and you can vote for more of your favorites – just remember, you only have one vote to cast per market! Don’t see your favorite market listed? Let your market manager know you want to vote for them and they can sign-up for the contest here.
According to American Farmland Trust (AFT), the purpose of this contest is to re-connect local consumers to local farms, with the ultimate goal of keeping our nation’s farm and ranch land productive and healthy! Buying at the farmers market keeps money in the local community and helps farms and ranches remain economically viable. By voting, you’re helping support farms and communities across the nation.
As American Farmland Trust says, “No Farms No Food™!”
So don’t forget to vote for Skagit Valley’s local farmers at http://votemyfarmersmarket.org and spread the word! Voting ends midnight Sept.3rd,2012. Get in on the conversations too, use hashtag #farmersmarket in your tweets and pins about your favorite market and follow America’s Farmland Trust @farmland . Big thanks to everyone who votes and supports local farmers and markets!
